Olijvenkop Olive Grove
Riebeek Kasteel · 210 km north (but worth it) of us
Award-winning extra-virgin olive oil from the Swartland.
The Smit family planted their first olives in 2002, on a slope that had grown wheat for a hundred years. They press themselves, in a mill on the farm, within four hours of picking, which is the single biggest thing that separates the great oils from the merely good.
Their Mission and Frantoio blend has won three SA Olive awards in the last five years. We sell it by the bottle and we use it in the kitchen, on the dressings, the focaccia, the carrot cake. They drive a pallet down to us every January and we keep it cold and dark.
