The Oak Avenue
A 220-year-old oak avenue, the most-photographed in the valley.
The oak avenue is the estate's heart. Two parallel rows of oaks planted in 1808, now sixty feet tall, casting deep shade most of the day. Couples walk down a grass aisle a hundred and twenty metres long. The light at four in the afternoon, in February, is unfairly beautiful.
Most weddings use the avenue for the ceremony and process to the werf for cocktails afterwards. Bench-style seating for ninety; we hire chairs for larger numbers.

The Chapel
A small whitewashed Cape Dutch chapel from 1808.
The chapel was built in 1808, the same year as the avenue. It was the original farm church. Restored by the current owners in 2014: original yellowwood pews stripped and oiled, the bell tower re-shingled, the leaded windows re-leaded. It seats fifty at a push, thirty-five comfortably.
The chapel is our wet-weather backup for the avenue and the chosen space for intimate ceremonies. The acoustics are extraordinary. A string quartet sounds twice the size.

The Dam
A still dam ringed by oaks. Sundowner ceremonies look impossible.
The dam was dug in 1962 to irrigate the lower vineyard and has been ringed by oaks since the late seventies. Three Phoenix palms reach over the water on the western side. There is a small wooden jetty, redone in 2020, from which most couples now choose to say their vows.
Ceremonies at the dam work best between November and March, late afternoon, looking east as the light goes off. Smaller weddings can serve cocktails on the lawn and dinner under a marquee right there.

Reception · Indoor, restored stable
The Werf Hall
The original 1782 stable, restored. Eighty feet long, lit by chandeliers.
The werf hall is the original farm stable, built the same year as the homestead. The horses came out in the 1950s. The roof, the floor and the south wall came down in 2019 and the whole building was restored over the two years that followed. Original walls, original beams where we could save them, new clay tile floor, candle chandeliers.
It is the reception space for the Estate package and, paired with marquee overflow on the werf itself, can take a wedding of up to two hundred and forty for cocktails or a hundred and eighty seated.
