“A summer-evening dam wedding for one hundred and sixty-five. The walk back up the slope from the dam in the dark was the moment.”

About the estate
Forty weddings
a year, not one more.
Akker & Eik Estate is a working Cape Dutch farm in the Tulbagh valley. The homestead was built in 1782, the chapel in 1808, the avenue planted the same summer. The current owners have been here since 1968, three generations.
We host weddings forty times a year and not one more, because we want to be there for each of them ourselves. The rest of the year the farm farms.
Liesbet & Hannes Theunissen

Couples & photographers
In their own words.
★ ★ ★ ★ ★“They held our hand for fourteen months and then let us go on the day itself. Everything we asked for was there and a few things we didn't know we needed too.”
★ ★ ★ ★ ★“We had been to four other venues. We knew within twenty minutes that we were getting married here. The team are the reason we knew.”
★ ★ ★ ★ ★“For an intimate wedding I cannot imagine a better place. They felt like family by the second meeting. The dining-room dinner with everyone around one table will stay with us forever.”
