Thandi & Luke

Thandi and Luke wanted the dam and they wanted the whole weekend. We had it free for one date in February and they took it.

The ceremony was at five-thirty on a still afternoon. The light went off behind the western mountains halfway through the vows. We had hurricane lamps lining the path back up the slope; Luke later said the walk back, in the dark, holding hands with Thandi, was the moment he remembered most clearly.

Dinner was in the werf hall for one hundred and sixty-five. They danced till one. Friday night they had a welcome braai in the rose garden for the family; Sunday morning their parents made breakfast for everyone still on the property.

They are the kind of couple we hope will be back for an anniversary in five years.
